WAYLON 8 Year-Old Yellow Lab Mix (possibly Golden Retriever), 109 Pounds, Neutered
Background: Waylon was surrendered to the local shelter with his female littermate as his family was moving. Waylon's sister was picked up by another rescue. It's unfortunate they couldn't pull both of them as they were reported to be a bonded pair. In any case, we are thrilled to welcome Waylon into the GGLRR family and for the opportunity to find him his forever home.
What Waylon's Foster Family Says: Waylon is 109 pounds gentle sweet giant and is the easiest Lab I have fostered. He loves cookies and takes them softly (not a snapping turtle). He loves belly rubs and wags his tail when you are talking sweetly to him. He stops on walks (when I stop) and he does not pull…However, If he sees a squirrel or a cat that is close in proximity, he is inconsistent about going after it or leaving it alone... I don’t get it…. He walks twice a day with all three of our dogs and there are no issues in our house with all the other dogs. He is totally housebroken - does not pee inside and will let me know when he needs to go outside. Waylon has a skin rash which we are working on with medicated shampoo and medicated mousse. Overall, he has been an amazing addition in our home and will be good with a home that has other dogs.
What Waylon's Rescue Rep Says: Meeting Waylon at the shelter, he wasn't very interested in our volunteer who went out to evaluate him. Waylon allowed all over handling, but wasn't interested in food or treats. He appeared nervous in the shelter environment but when his canine sibling came out, he was much more relaxed. Waylon is housetrained and would benefit from having another nice dog (or dogs) in the home. We'd like Waylon in a home where he will receive lots of attention and exercise, not be left alone for long periods of the day, and one committed to making him a part of the family.
Medical: Current on vaccinations, heartworm tested (negative) and neutered. Waylon has a skin rash that is being treated with a medicated shampoo and mousse.
