Foster needed for 8-month-old 56-lb black spayed female Lab mix "Una"

Background: Found as a stray in Oakland, Una was adopted out from the shelter but returned soon thereafter due to her high energy level.  We found her to be an awesome dog.

What Una's Evaluator Says: Una is a sweet young Lab mix.  She knows numerous commands.  She is loving and affectionate.  She was clearly someone's pet.  Una will need work on leash manners.  She is a bit jumpy so probably not best for family with small children.

What the Shelter Says: On day one at the shelter, Una engaged in dog play with all three playgroups. Joined a very high energy, high contact group and handled that well.  Afterwards, joined a medium energy group that mostly plays chase. Lastly, joined a gentle group and was respectful and playful. She excelled in all groups.

What Una's Rescue Rep Says: Would love for Una to go to a foster home that is ready for her energy.  Presence of other dogs and older children would be great.  No idea how she is with cats.  Will need a strong hand when on leash-walks due to her lack of obedience on leash.

Medical: In great health.  Current on vaccinations.  Microchipped.  Spayed.

Located In: Oakland.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
