Thor    4-year-old male chocolate Lab     85+ lbs     Neutered

Background: Thor's family has their hands full dealing with human health issues and second young child.  Unable to provide Thor the time and attention he deserves, so they have reluctantly decided to find him a new home.

What Thor's Surrendering Owner Says: We've had Thor for three years; we got him from a family friend.  He has lived with all ages of people including young children.  He is a happy-go-lucky, loving, playful goof ball.  Not fully house-trained.  Not crate trained.  Spends most of his day in the back yard with our other dogs.  Sleeps on a dog bed inside the house at night.  We play with him daily, throwing the ball.  Knows a number of commands, including:  sit, stay, down, come, drop it, leave it, wait, and off.  Likes to ride in the car.  Will chew your shoes if you don't put them away.  Counter-surfs occasionally.  Gentle with small children -- likes to sniff and lick them.  Very friendly with our cats.  Curious with our chickens.  He will joyfully jump up on strangers; loves everyone.

What Thor's Rescue Rep Says:What a fun dog!  Loves to be touched all over.  Fetching is clearly his favorite exercise.  Pulls a little on leash, but easily directed.  Gets along fine with other dogs (and cats).  No resource guarding.  A little bit of a bull-in-a-china-shop so he will need fosters and adopters who are steady on their feet.  Needs an active home with lots of exercise to slim him down a few pounds.

Medical: Thor is in fine health albeit a bit overweight. Should lose ~15 pounds. Current on vaccinations. Neutered. Not yet microchipped. Needs a heartworm test.

Located In: Rio Vista.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
