Tater      8-year-old yellow neutered male yellow Lab mix     70-lb     Neutered

Background: Tater's owner is moving to a one-bedroom apartment without room for Tater... and her busy travel schedule for work is not fair to Tater.

What Tater's Owner Says: Tater is a yellow Lab/Chesapeake mix who has been a one-family dog his whole life. He’s grown up with kids, been around dogs and cats, and knows all his basic commands. Outdoors, he loves walks, hikes, camping, swimming, and even short runs (under 5 miles). Indoors, he’s well-behaved and only shows his playful side with squeaky toys. Tater will bark to alert you of people outside but is never aggressive. On leash he may react to some large dogs, but at parks and beaches he happily plays with dogs of all sizes. He’s also a great travel buddy—after a few excited minutes, he settles down for the ride. At cafés or breweries, he’ll relax at your side once his initial curiosity fades. Tater is a happy, balanced Lab who would be the perfect match for an active family with kids, other pets, and plenty of love to give. He has grown up with cats, sometimes playing with them but mostly ignores them.

What Tater's Rescue Rep Says: I met Tater at the dog park next to the Bradshaw Animal Shelter in Sacramento.  Tater did great meeting all of the many dogs romping around.  He was a bit of a social butterfly.  Wonderful to see.  Very attentive and responsive to his surrendering owner who was present.  Tater would do great in a family with children.  Despite being a middle-aged dog, he is quite active and in great shape.

Medical: Neutered, current on Rabies and DHPP vax, microchipped, and heartworm negative.  In great health.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
