Simba: 4.5 year-old neutered male yellow Lab, 95 lbs
Background: Simba’s owner got him as a puppy from a breeder. The owner is moving from a home with a yard to an apartment out of the area and cannot take Simba with them. We recently moved Simba to a GGLRR foster home.
What the Owner says: Meet Simba – Your New Best Friend!
Simba is a 4-year-old yellow Lab with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging. He’s the perfect mix of playful and gentle — happy to chase a ball in the yard, go for a walk, or just snuggle up for a cozy nap.
Simba is house-trained, crate trained and knows his basic commands, and gets along well with both people and other dogs. He would thrive in a home where he gets plenty of affection, regular exercise, and the chance to be part of the family. Labs are known for their friendly and loyal nature, and Simba is no exception — He’s ready to give his forever family unconditional love. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a sweet soul and a happy spirit, Simba might just be the perfect fit.
What the Foster says: Simba is a big love bug! He’s still adjusting to the transition and tends to follow me around. He sleeps all night in his crate with just a couple of whimpers at the start. He walks very well on leash and knows: sit, down, stay/wait, shake, and go potty. He’s good with my dog -- no resource guarding.
Simba enjoys chasing squirrels and flies in the backyard. He is a thief -- items left laying out may become his new play toy. Simba thinks towels on the kitchen floor (to mop up after sloppy drinkers) are fair game for playing keep-away. Simba is a happy-go-lucky quintessential Lab in an extra large package!
What the Rescue Rep Says: Simba is your typical energetic goofy young yellow Lab. He’s friendly and playful but also high energy and a lot of dog! Simba would be a great companion for an active adopter who would enjoy outdoor adventures, playing fetch, and plenty of walks/hikes together. Simba is a big boy with lots of enthusiasm who can still get a bit hyper at times. So he would not be good in a home with anyone unsteady on their feet, and tweens/teens may be the best age for kids given his energy level. Simba is doing well with his foster mom’s Lab, and did fine at his owner’s home when a relative’s small dog visited. He is neutral and friendly with other dogs that he encounters on walks and at the park. Simba likes to bark at and chase cats, so not good for a home with cats.
Medical: Simba is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and has a recent negative heartworm test. He takes medication for seasonal allergies.
