Ruby 3-year-old female Lab/Golden mix 50-lbs Spayed
Background: Ruby was found as a stray in the Modesto area, but she developed medical issues when the shelter spayed her as part of a planned adoption. She had some internal bleeding with slow clotting. The shelter sought a rescue to pull her as they did not have the resources to treat her. We gladly took her into our program, and she has recovered from her medical woes.
What Ruby's Foster Says: Ruby is a true gem. Happy-go-lucky after a bit of a rough start, she hasn't met a dog or a human she hasn't charmed. She is fairly petite, ~ 50 lbs, and still has some puppy mannerisms... she nibbles on fingers, is curious about everything, and entertains herself in creative ways. Ruby comes when called (in exuberant leaps and bounds), knows 'sit', and is learning to walk on a leash. She is a cuddler, is housebroken, and sleeps through the night next to the bed. (Full disclosure ... she would be on the bed given the chance!). Ruby would do great in a household with another dog, and does well with kids too.
What Ruby's Rescue Rep Says:A delightful dog. Lots of energy. Wonderful family dog candidate. No idea how she is with cats. Active adopter is a must to burn off her energy. We want to ensure Ruby gets plenty of ongoing socialization with other dogs. An ideal fit for a home with an existing dog of similar playfulness and energy.
Medical: Ruby is current on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and heartworm negative. When she first arrived in our program we determine she has a bacterial infection and was quite anemic. After a course of antibiotics and some awesome nutrition, and lots of TLC, the infection is gone and her anemia levels have returned to the normal range.
Located In: Los Altos.
