Remi     2-year-old male chocolate Lab      60 lbs    Neutered

What Remi's Current Owners Say: We have had Remi for more than 18 months. Human job changes prevent us from giving Remi the attention he deserves and needs. Remi is a loving dog; he just wants to be where you are. He is a bit hyper. He spends most of his time in the house... and is left along for a few hours each day. We have a doggy door so he goes out and comes in at his own pleasure. We've trained him on a few commands and get him out for 1-3 mile walks almost every day. He lived with our older dog before the senior one passed away. Remi likes to ride in the car and loves to swim. He is a bit of a counter-surfer when the opportunity presents itself and jumps up on some people when excited. We have allowed him up on our couch. He has been around 2-year-old kids and just wants to lick their faces. He plays with our cat and puts the cat in his mouth but doesn't bite the cat. Chases the cat to play, but never hurts the cat. He likes to sit in the cat tree and will try to sit in your lap if you are driving. So, if he is in the passenger seat, it is easier to keep him off your lap when you are driving. He thinks he is a lap dog. Remi is a really good dog. We really don't want to rehome Remi but we feel it is what is best for him.

What Remi's Evaluator Says: Remi’s a very friendly, affectionate dog, but very high energy. He gets along well with their cat and knows several commands. They had an older Lab, who probably helped use up some of Remi's energy, but she died recently. Remi was totally friendly when I did the eval, but he was all over the place (and all over me!). He’s trained, but it’s understandable that they’d like to rehome him, especially since their daughter (his best friend) is small for her age. An adopter who’s either very active — a runner, a skier, a hiker? — or who has other active, lively dogs for Remi to romp with would probably work well.

What Remi's Rescue Rep Says: A terrific young energetic dog.  Would be great with kids, another dog and cats.  But he will need lots of exercise.  We don't want to see Remi let home alone for long hours.  Great candidate for ongoing training.

Medical: Fully vaccinated.  Needs a heartworm test.  Neutered and microchipped.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
