REBA - 1 1/2 YR. OLD FEMALE CHOCOLATE LAB, 70lbs, NOT SPAYED

Background: Reba was purchased from a breeder as a puppy. Recently she is not getting along with the other dogs in the household – an 8-year-old female rat terrier and a 6-year-old female black lab. While the family wishes they could keep her, they believe it's in the best interest of everyone—both the family and their two dogs—to find her a new home and have reached out to GGLRR for assistance with rehoming.

What Reba's Owner Says: Reba is a beautiful purebred chocolate lab. She is a wonderful dog with a loving heart and a strong bond to her people.

Reba would thrive in a home where she can be the only dog as she can be jealous of other dogs in the household. She would be best suited to an adult household or a family with older children who understand her needs and can respect her space. In the right environment, she is incredibly affectionate and happiest when she’s close to her humans.

She enjoys:

Riding in the car (especially with her head out the window!)
Playing ball and fetch
Swimming and water activities
Lounging and sleeping indoors with her family
Reba is not afraid of loud noises, and has a very gentle mouth. She has completed two weeks of away-from-home professional training and has learned some leash manners, though continued reinforcement would help her be even better. She can be left alone for long periods of time and handles it well.

What Reba's Rescue Rep Says: Reba is a friendly, playful Lab. She loves meeting people and greets them with happy excitement—sometimes jumping in place—but she remains polite and calm. She’s social, confident, and genuinely enjoys human interaction.

Reba loves to play fetch and eagerly will drop the ball for you to throw it again, and again. She also enjoys going for walks, but her excitement causes her to pull on leash, so she will benefit from continued training.

She greets unfamiliar dogs calmly with a sniff and then moves on. While she is generally comfortable around other dogs, she can be a bit eager for attention, which is why she would do best as the only dog in the home. In her current home, she lives with chickens and has shown no interest in chasing them. Her behavior with cats is unknown.

Reba will thrive in an active home that can provide her with regular exercise, playtime, and companionship. A fenced yard where she can chase balls and access to water where she can swim would be ideal. She is best suited to a home where she won’t be left alone for long stretches and where she can be the center of attention as the only dog.She would be an excellent match for an adult household or a family with older children who are looking for an affectionate, active, and devoted Lab.

Medical: Reba is in good health and up to date on all vaccines. Spay surgery and microchipping are being scheduled.

Located In: Vallejo.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
