Muffin -- ~2-year-old female black Lab mix 45 lbs Spayed
Background: We brought this young dog into our program from the Modesto shelter. She had come in as a stray after (likely) being struck by a car and suffered a broken left rear tibia (shin bone) and other abrasions. We got her to a Sacramento ortho vet who stabilized the tibia bone with a titanium plate on 22 July.
What Muffin's Foster Says: Major cuteness factor happening here. Muffin has been spending most of her time in a large x-pen in my dining room with doggie-door access to my back deck. She uses the doggie door to take care of her business on the back deck; no accidents in the house. Muffin wants to play and romp with my other foster dog Blackjack, and I need to hold her back from major romp-fest due to her leg healing. Incredibly affectionate, Muffin's most favorite position is on my couch with her head in my lap and my hands scratching her belly. She sleeps through the night in the x-pen with nary a peep. Eager for her meals, she gobbles down her food. Loves gnawing on frozen kongs and bones. She has one brown eye and one blue eye... a very special dog.
What Muffin's Rescue Rep Says:What a delightful dog. No idea what she is mixed with. At 45 pounds (fully grown?) she is a wonderful size for someone looking for a smaller dog.
Medical: Muffin is in fine health. Vaccinated, spayed, microchipped. Negative for heartworm. With a bandage on her left rear leg, she is currently on rest and relaxation for the next few weeks to allow her tibia bone to fully heal. She does have an over-bite, as it appears her lower jaw did not grow to its normal length -- doesn't bother her a bit; no longer term health concerns per our vet.
