Lucy ~4-year-old female fox red Lab 70 lbs Spayed
Background: Lucy was one of 50+ dogs recently removed from a hoarding situation. She, along with her former companions, were in pretty rough shape: flea dermatitis, major ear infections, infested with roundworms or tapeworms, embedded foxtails, filthy coats, badly worn teeth -- absolutely beyond bedraggled. We are thrilled to give Lucy and the other Labs some major medical care and long overdue TLC... and ready them for new (and outstanding) forever homes where they can thrive.
What Lucy's Foster Says: Lucy has the sweetest disposition and is so loving. Lucy had a tough start, but she’s settled in well and surprises us every day with how much she’s grown. She seems truly grateful for her new life and is enjoying every moment. Lucy likes short walks around the neighborhood and is getting better on the leash. She’s friendly with people and other dogs, though she might be a bit shy at first. Lucy rides well in the car and seems to enjoy it, but she still needs a little help getting in and out. Although she has lost sight in one eye, it doesn’t slow her down. Stairs were a challenge for her at first, but now she handles them with no problem. Lucy is a typical lab and loves her meals, and is food-motivated, which makes training easier. She takes treats gently and always sits for you. Her favorite spot is the kitchen! She is becoming more independent but still likes to stay close. After her last bath, she had her first zoomies, which was so cute. She’s discovering how much fun life can be, and her playful side is starting to come out. Lucy would be great with children and would love a home with another dog. She likes following our older lab around and would probably do well with cats too. She sleeps well in her crate, likes her regular routine, and is now fully house-trained. She is a very easy-going, sweet dog.
What Lucy's Rescue Rep Says:Lucy has had a difficult life thus far... but her future is bright. We would welcome adopting out Lucy and one of her companions (Stan, Ruby, Gertrude, Betty Jo, Franklin, Becky, Melodie, Tala, or Sally) to the same family. Lucy gets along great with other dogs and people. Lucy would be happy in any home where she can be a part of a family that is around most of the time. A home with few stairs and steps would be ideal. Lucy is a darling dog. Fine dog for a family with children.
Medical: Current on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Many of her front teeth (incisors) are ground down to near nothing. Recovering from ear infection and itchy skin issues. Just got spayed. Lucy recently had one of her eyes removed as she was blind in that eye and it may have been quite painful for her... but don't worry, she gets around just fine.
