Video: Kiara Playing in the Yard

Kiara: 8 year-old spayed female yellow Lab, 57 lbs
at fair

Background: Kiara’s owners now have elderly parents (80+) at home who need constant care, in addition to having young kids. They love Kiara dearly, however, they are finding that they no longer have time to spend with Kiara and get her out for walks, etc. They would like to see her go to a family who has the time and willingness to give her the love and attention she deserves.

What Kiara's Current Owner Says: Kiara is a wonderful 8-year-old Labrador retriever. She’s always ready to play and has a friendly and playful nature, making her the perfect companion for anyone who loves the outdoors. Kiara loves the outdoors and enjoys going on walks and exploring new places. She is also very gentle, and used to being around kids and the elderly, making her an excellent family dog.

What Kiara's Rescue Rep Says: Kiara is a very nice dog. Her favorite activity is sniffing new places and smells, so she would do great with a family that likes to go on hikes and outdoor adventures. She also enjoys playing fetch with her favorite squeaky ball. She can pull a little when she is excited to go out at the start of a walk, but quickly settles into the rhythm of the walk. She can sometimes get growly when passing other dogs on-leash, but does well with dogs off-leash. She interacted politely with dogs of various sizes off-leash in a dog park when I met her.

Medical: Kiara is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and on preventatives. She is currently taking a thyroid medication (levothyroxine) for hypothyroidism.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
