Finn, 9-week-old male lab mix, Not yet neutered

Background: Finn was born in the Modesto shelter on 28 July. His very pregnant 3-year-old female chocolate Lab mix mom, "Honeybee", had been brought into the Modesto shelter on 16 July by a field officer. We took Finn and his three siblings and his mom, Honeybee, into our program. Finn's siblings (Bo, Moose, and Wren) have already been adopted.

What Current Foster Says: What a delightful puppy. Plays hard and sleeps great. Finn has longer black fur, super soft, big ears. Mostly mellow, but spurts of energy. Observant and a bit wary of new things. Watches his sibs before jumping in. Doing pretty well at housetraining. Enjoys being handled, snuggled, carried, etc., but only when he's up for it. Wriggles and thrashes if he wants down. Not super food driven. Not a barker.

What Rescue Rep Says: Cute is a complete understatement for Finn. The adopter will need to be home most (if not all the time), have a home with a backyard, and be fully aware of what puppy care is all about. Not for those who are not ready to full commit to puppy care. Need to have a plan for puppy training and socialization with other puppies. Prior young dog experience is not required but preferable. No other dogs in the home under two years old, please. Cats okay. The employment of a crate and exercise pen (x-pen) will be important too. Given Finn is not fully vaccinated, he will be under home/backyard quarantine until late November (when he gets his third distemper vax.) We have no idea who his father is, but our DNA analysis reveal that Finn is likely a Doberman, cocker spaniel, shepherd mix.

Medical: Finn is in fine health. He has had his first DHPP vaccination.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
