Daisy 1.8 years old, Black Lab Mix, ~66 lbs, spayed

Background: Daisy was an owner surrender to the Contra Costa County shelter and was on their Euthanasia list for October 1st when GGLRR and an amazing evaluator and foster swooped in and saved her.

What Daisy's Foster Says: Meet Daisy — Your New Adventure Buddy with a Gentle Soul. Daisy is a sweet, spirited 1.8-year-old black Lab mix weighing about 60 lbs. She’s the kind of dog who makes eye contact that says, “I’m listening. I’m with you.” Whether you’re tossing a ball or heading out for a walk, Daisy is ready to join in with heart and enthusiasm.

She’s smart and responsive, already mastering commands like Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Shake, Let’s go Potty, and Leave It. She’s also incredibly gentle when taking treats from your hand—making training sessions smooth and rewarding.

Daisy lives peacefully with a 9-year-old female Lab and has shown no signs of resource guarding with food or toys. She’s food-motivated, has good leash manners, and engages appropriately with people and other dogs. Her favorite game? Fetch! She’ll drop the ball at your feet and give a polite whine if you’re slow to toss it—she’s playful, but never pushy.

Daisy’s balanced temperament and eagerness to connect make her a great fit for active adopters looking for a companion to hike, train, or simply enjoy the outdoors together. She’s ready to bond deeply and thrive in a home that values both fun and connection.

What Daisy's Rescue Rep Says: Daisy would thrive in a loving home that can give her both companionship and structure. Her energy comes in happy bursts, and she greets new friends politely—four paws on the ground and tail wagging—so she’d do well with kids of all ages. At night, she sleeps quietly in her foster family’s bedroom, content just to be near her people.

While Daisy is wonderfully affectionate and eager to please, she’s still building her confidence in the world and would benefit from continued socialization. Her ideal family will have time to train with her, include her in daily activities, and make her feel like part of the pack. With consistency, patience, and love, Daisy will blossom into the loyal, easygoing companion every dog lover hopes to find.

Medical: Daisy is in great health, spay and up to date on her vaccines.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
