Bear 9 years old, 60 lbs Yellow Lab, Not Neutered
Background: Bear has lived with his family since he was a puppy. With both owners working full time and then the addition of 2 children they soon had less time to devote to Bear. Now with the recent addition of a baby (along with a 7 yr old and 4 yr old) they are unable to give him the attention he deserves and have made the difficult decision to find him a new home.
What Bear's Rescue Rep Says: Bear is a handsome almost 10-year-old yellow Lab who still enjoys being active, loves meeting new people, and has the classic friendly Lab personality. He greeted me with a happy wag and was eager to say hello without jumping up. He has a calm, easygoing nature and was perfectly content when left alone in his kennel with me, showing no signs of separation anxiety.
He knows basic commands like sit and down, takes treats gently, and enjoys a game of fetch. Bear was comfortable being handled all over, including having his paws, ears, and body touched, and he showed no signs of resource guarding with either food or toys. Also, despite having lived outside for the past several years, he appears to be housetrained.
When he met another dog, Bear was excited and pulled on the leash, but his behavior was friendly and social, with no signs of aggression.
Bear would thrive with adopters who can provide daily exercise, companionship, and a securely fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and enjoy games of fetch. He'll be happiest in a home where he isn't left alone for long periods and can get the attention, and family life he's been missing. Another dog in the household would be fine and he's good with kids, but unsure about cats.
Medical: Bear is up to date on his vaccines and is scheduled for a check up and neuter surgery.
