Six 5-month-old yellow Lab mix puppies
Background: Lake County shelter took in these six Lab mix puppies a few days ago: two males and four females. They allegedly came from some backyard breeder up in the mountains -- NFI. Good grief! They are now in a temp foster home in Grass Valley, but we need to split them up and move them to new fosters soonest.
What Their Rescue Rep Says: We got them into a Grass Valley foster home on Friday for temporary refuge, but we need to shift them into new foster homes now. They have already received one distemper vaccination and a Rabies vaccination. Will need a second distemper vaccination before they can go on walks, etc. So they will be quarantined in your home and backyard until that final distemper vaccination. Presence of an existing dog in the foster home would be fine. We want to split up "the pack" so that each foster gets one or two of the puppies. Appear to be house-trained and crate-trained -- awesome! Their foster reports they are incredibly sweet and affectionate.
Adopting a young puppy is much like having a newborn baby in the home: very demanding for care and attention, can't be left alone much, cries a lot -- especially at night when you want to sleep. Eat, poop/pee, play, sleep... repeat, repeat, repeat. Puppy-raising is also filled with joy and fun. Young puppies have sharp teeth and tend to go for human toes and arms when available. Young puppies quickly grow up and become big rowdy juveniles that need lots of exercise and structure and patience from their humans.

Medical: All of the pups appear to be in good health. We are taking them to our vet early next week. Microchipping/spaying/neutering pends.
