Edwina 4-month old female black Lab mix 26 pounds Spayed

Background: Found with a dog pal in San Francisco, no one came forward to claim her. We always wonder what the stories are with these dumped (?) dogs. Our evaluator found Edwina (named that by the shelter) to be a fabulous young pup... so we got her out of San Francisco Animal Care and Control... and into a foster home.

What Edwina's Foster Says: Edwina is a fluffy cupcake! She’s super soft, playful, and curious - just the right amount of submissive yet she’s quite confident. She maintains good eye contact and is continually absorbing everything around her. This pup is clearly intelligent and ready to learn all the tricks! We are working on "sit"/"shake" and she’s crushing it. Good grrrrrl! So far potty training has been a breeze - zero accidents. She has slept peacefully through the night from day one in her crate next to our bed. Her coat, ears and mouth/all baby teeth are intact and healthy. No resource guarding; loves other dogs (cats untested) and flows well socially with people of all ages who frequent our home. Walks well on leash. We also noticed right away that she’s an instant water dog! She loves to play with the water in her bowl as much as she likes to drink it. She also makes the occasional funny “grunty” noises when she gets excited/hungry, and has already earned the nickname “pupasaurus rex”. She is taller than the average pup so we think she’s going to be quite tall and elegant looking when full grown.

Report from the foster's own dog, Gracie: “Edwina is sidekick-approved. I generally like puppies and I especially like this one. She doesn’t get in my face too much and respects my boundaries, yet follows me everywhere and mimics everything I do! She is energetic yet chills when I chill. I think she would be a wonderful pup for a family and a nice sibling for a person’s existing dog. I am six years old and like this kid a lot. She keeps me young!”

What Edwina's Rescue Rep Says: A wonderful young dog that has a great life ahead of her. Perhaps mixed with a shepherd. Great with other dogs; no idea how she would be with cats. Might be great for a family with children.

Medical: Fit as a fiddle. Edwina is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed.

Located In: Novato.

Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
